Windows 8 Metro isn't everybody's cup of tea. If you find that you don't like it, you can download a program called Metro Controller that will let you do the following:
1. Disable all new features (ribbon explorer, lock screen, metro start screen).
2. Disable Metro features only (keep the ribbon explorer).
So if you find that the ribbon explorer or Metro just aren't for you, turn them off. It might just give your Windows 8 experience a much needed boost.
