Wii U may cost over $250

Speaking with the Nikkei newspaper today (translated by Bloomberg) Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata hinted that the Wii U would likely be priced at more than ¥20,000 ($250) in Japan when it goes on sale next year. Iwata reportedly said that Nintendo is unlikely to sell the new console for the same price as the Wii, which launched at $250, as did the 3DS.

Bloomberg reports that Nintendo Co.'s stock fell to its lowest level in more than five years after the unveiling of the Wii U. This was due to analysts questioning the company's ability to repeat the success of the Wii -- especially with the new split focus on attempting to woo both hardcore and casual gamers simultaneously.
