My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is an excellent show. Not only does it boast great animation and the creative input of television producer Lauren Faust (of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends fame), MLP has also been a surprising runaway hit with both the young and adult male demographic. With fansites, music video mash ups, and other fan projects in the works, it was a matter of time before we saw a fan made video game.
Although this footage is taken from an early pre-alpha build, My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic already looks like an official Hasbro product. Volunteer development team Mane6 is building the game from the ground up, with the team doing their own artwork, music, and concept art. According the team FAQ page, the final version will have a story mode, local/online versus, and character specific super moves. Fans can comment on the team's current project thread right over here.
We know it's done with humor in mind, but we've been getting flooded with questions about unexistent pre-order releases and 'special editions.'
Everything's done in-house. Straight from Concept art all the way to the final product. Animations are custom, as well as background, and of course, the music.
