Oil spill from space: One year later

NASA posts images of Gulf area taken by satellite


With the one year anniversary of the BP oil spill upon us, NASA shows off some images from space that show the area's recovery.

The video shows a "space-based view of the burning oil rig, the spill, and the location", from the time of the spill through April 1, 2011. During the height of the spill you can see grayish-beige images from the slick, but then the weather, ocean currents and the cleanup helps disperse the slick.
