How fast is LTE? Depends on if you stay put when you use it

Roaming is achilles heel for Verizon's new 4G Wireless service

Lusting after those super-fast 4G networks like Verizon Wireless' LTE, especially when you're on the move?

Bad news. If you're using a USB modem to connect your laptop, don't do it in a train or cab. Driver problems for USB modems can cause delays that make the handoff from the LTE network to a 3G/EVDO cell as long as two minutes.

If you work on a Mac you're out of luck completely. Verizon is still working on drivers to connect Macs to LTE, which launched in 38 cities Dec. 5.

Verizon is focusing its marketing efforts for LTE on business users first.
