Your new, super fast Windows 7 machine shouldn't take an eternity to start up. If it takes more than a couple of minutes, you should spend a little time finding what's causing the boot delay.
In an article on IT Expert Voice, Sandro Villinger explains how to use Windows 7's Event Viewer to calculate exactly how long your startup is taking and find out what combination of things (because it's rarely just one thing) is causing the holdup:
The "Diagnostic Performance" category [in Event Viewer] keeps a record of all startup issues. Simply sort the list by "Task Category"... and go through all the events you see in the "Boot Performance" category. Look for "Warnings" and "Critical" errors.
