Finally! The day has arrived! A name brand Android tablet is finally revealed (with apologies to the Dell Streak, which seems more like an overgrown phone than a tablet). Samsung today launched a teaser site for the Galaxy Tab P1000, a 7" Android tablet that will be revealed on September 2nd (on the eve of the IFA show in Germany). You can visit the teaser site to see a brief video of the device, but there's not a lot of detail there yet.
Along with the official teaser site come the leaks. Engadget has some nice still shots as well as some specs (though these should still be considered rumor): 1,024 x 600 screen, 3.2 megapixel camera (back facing) and 3G. Less awesome is the proprietary connector and what ifanr.com (Engadget's tipster) describes as a 'plasticky' feel to the device. September 2nd is next week so we should know more then. What I'm most interested in is launch info for the US; are all the leaks that Samsung is partnering with Verizon correct? Remember, this is just the tip of the iceberg; we'll see a lot more Android tablets in the coming month. In fact we'll probably see several more being introduced at the IFA show next week. It's about time Apple got some serious competition!
