Anyone who's spent time in Northern California knows that "hella" is synonymous with "a lot" or "very". Now a University of California at Davis physics student has started a quixotic campaign to enshrine the word as an official metric prefix, like kilo- and mega-; it would denote 10 to the 27th power.
