Server virtualization stands out during a rough quarter

RWBaird's latest survey is out, and the market research firm is saying that server virtualization, along with business intelligence, will be strong areas during what is likely to be a very depressing first quarter.

The quarter in general will be "below normal," which is no big surprise to anybody. But the report shows a few high points, with the greatest strength in storage, followed by server virtualization, and then business intelligence. Server virtualization is naturally a good draw in a tight economy, since it delivers an excellent ROI and can save a great deal of money overall--and the report noted that VMware Inc. was number one in saving customers the most money.
