SAP debuts customer-management software

Computer World –

SAP AG today released the first member of a promised line of customer relationship management(CRM) applications.

The new software lineup includes product configuration and pricing software for companies looking to sell goods via the Web. The German vendor said the Internet Pricing and Configurator package matches what's already available in its flagship R/3 suite for uses that don't involve the Web.

The new software comes with built-in hooks to R/3 for processing orders, but SAP said it also can be tied to other back-office systems through application programming interfaces. Pricing wasn't disclosed.

SAP's CRM plans also include mobile sales and service applications that are now being tested by about 10 users, but those products aren't due for general release until late this year.
