Windows Server 2003

Windows 2003 Server, released earlier this year, includes a feature that

has received little attention. It's dubbed the "direct console session".

In Windows 2000, you had the ability to install Terminal Services in two

different modes - Application Server mode or Remote Administration mode.

Both modes inherently used the same technology, however in Application

Server mode the server settings were optimized to allow multiple

concurrent sessions to be created, whereas in Remote Administration

mode, you get a stripped down version of Terminal Services that only

allows for two concurrent sessions to be created. While you could do
