Open source gets boost from the cost-conscious


ZDNet UK – The most recent Evans Data survey of 550 database developers bears good news for open source. The survey reported a 30% increase in usage of the open source database MySQL for application development. And the news is nearly as good for grid computing: 12% of companies surveyed have either already implemented or plan to implement grid computing within the next year, and an additional 9% plan to implement grid computing within 2 years.
