Lotus Development Corp. today confirmed that it's launching an internal restructuring that's due to be announced at the software vendor's Lotusphere user conference this month and then will be largely implemented before the end of March.
Details of the planned reorganization weren't disclosed, but Lotus spokeswoman Mary Rose Greenough said the Cambridge, Mass.-based IBM subsidiary "will continue to have dedicated sales development, marketing and service in support of the Lotus business and brand" after the changes are made.
News of the upcoming restructuring was provided to Lotus employees in an e-mail message sent yesterday by CEO Al Zollar, according to sources close to the company. Greenough said the changes will be addressed during Lotusphere the week of Jan. 14 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and are likely to be "topic No. 1" at a press conference there.
