A new wireless networking standard, 802.11n, promises to be at least twice as fast as 802.11g, with throughput speeds of at least 100 megabits per second.
It's also expected to cover twice as much area as 802.11g (good news for those of us with big Victorian houses), be backward compatible with 802.11b and 11g, and maintain its speed in a mixed network.
The standard hasn't been ratified yet, but Belkin Corp.'s Wireless Pre-N Router and Network Card, due in October promise 802.11n's benefits. Pricing has yet to be announced.
