Hiring managers want IT pros with Linux skills and they're willing to pay handsomely. The 2014 Linux Jobs Report, produced by Dice.com and The Linux Foundation, finds a shortage of Linux pros at the same time there's an increased demand for those skills. "This year’s report shows there is unlimited career advancement for developers and systems administrators who contribute to and seek out learning opportunities for Linux," notes Jim Zemlin, executive director at The Linux Foundation. "The future is a bright one for professionals who know Linux. "

Adds Dice President Shravan Goli: "Enterprises are increasingly describing Linux as a core part of the business. These professionals are working on projects tightly aligned with a future vision of what enterprises look like. " Key takeaways from this year's report:
- 77% of hiring managers have "hiring Linux talent" on their priority list for 2014, up from 70% last year.
- 46% of hiring managers intend to beef up Linux recruiting.
- 93% of organizations plan to hire Linux talent in the next six months.
- 75% of Linux pros reported they received at least one call from a recruiter in the past six months. Nearly half received six or more calls.
