Watch some cool photos of Earth from space

NASA compiles satellite photos/animations from 2012

When you hear about satellite photos, usually you are thinking either of weather radar maps or CIA-related photos of enemy locations, but satellites are taking a bunch of other photos and measurements of our planet on a regular basis.

NASA has taken a bunch of these photos and animations from 2012 and compiled them into a very nice video, seen below. A lot of these images have been seen before, but it's nice to see them in one big compilation.

NASA says a bunch of the photos were "true color satellite images, Earth science data visualizations, time-lapses from the International Space Station, and computer models." To view more images, NASA has this cool interactive site you can check out.

Bonus video: NASA also has this interesting report about the year of Arctic Sea ice (learn about an Arctic cyclone!)
