I’m generally a fan of making use of the data that we seem to be swimming in these days. For example, I wrote yesterday about how big data could help employers do a better job of identifying good programmers. But, let’s face it, sometimes people go overboard with data analytics. Sports are the best example where things have gone off the rails, in my opinion. Like, do we really need advanced catching metrics? I hope that, in order to determine who was naughty or nice, Santa avoids advanced analytics and just continues to go with his ample gut.
