Google tops Glassdoor’s latest annual list of the best places to work in the United States, based on employee reviews

Snow White said we should whistle while we work. That’s much easier to do at some companies than others, but how do you know which employers will have you whistling and which will have you cursing? Glassdoor’s annual list of the 50 Best Places to Work in the U.S, the latest version of which was released this week, should help. It ranks companies based on reviews submitted by employees to the site over the past year, in which they rate their jobs and employers on compensation and benefits, career opportunities, management and culture. This year Google topped the list as the best place to work in the U.S. in 2015 (it was also ranked first by employees in the U.K.), taking the top spot from 2014’s number one, Bain & Company, a management consulting firm.
A number of notable tech companies included in the 2014 list didn’t make the top 50 for 2015, including Twitter, Intel, Citrix, eBay and Salesforce. Overall, fewer tech companies (14) made this year’s top 50 than last year (22). But tech companies as a group still make a good showing when it comes to employee satisfaction.
