I first heard mention of today's Windows Phone 10 Technical Preview release watching TWiT's Windows Weekly show. Gabriel Aul of Microsoft informed viewers that Microsoft would be releasing a new build of Windows Phone 10 today. Later confirmed once more by Aul on twitter, the news spread like wildfire to the Windows Phone community thanks to excellent reporting by Mark Hachman, Paul Thurrott and many others.
Sounds great, so how do I get it?
First make sure your Windows Phone can run today's build by checking this Microsoft blog post. Next, signup for Microsoft's Windows Insider program and install the Windows Insider app on your phone. Microsoft recommends using a backup phone or signing up for the Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview program if you are uncomfortable installing Windows 10 Tech Preview on your primary phone.
Aside from the fun of discovering and using new features, prepare for Windows Phone 10's imminent release by creating apps for the OS using App Studio, or with the tools available from Windows Dev Center. Enjoy!
