What did we learn? To always buy an unlocked phone when trying the no-contract waters. And that phone unlocking is, like most personal tech matters, not something the government is exactly great at crushing.

What kind of pain is required for moving from the easy comfort of Contractville to Pre-Paid Junction? I will tell you, having just (almost) moved my small smartphone family.

With your contacts, it is just turn-on-and-go seamless. Everything else? It does not work that way. At least as I've seen it, over dozens of restores, and I am a person who really digs into settings.

More than just the usual data-cap problems, I just haven't seen a lot of value in combining phones under the new share-your-limited-data plans.

Global fragmentation has problems and advantages: spread and reach, versus conformity and predictability. But just look at something like the screen size possibilities.
