    How often have you as a mobile web developer struggled to diagnose a style or layout issue on a particular device through trial and error? Wouldn’t it be so much easier if you could just inspect the DOM on the mobile device as you would on the desktop through Chrome or Firebug? It turns out there is a tool for that.

  • Is buying a next-gen console responsible?

    I’ve been into video games my entire life. I’ve saved up and purchased just about every console platform and generation since the original NES. I currently own a PS3 and Xbox 360 but both are collecting dust now that I’m over thirty years old, married, baby and career laden. I want a reason to buy a nex-gen console this year but so far I can’t find that reason.

  • LINQ in .NET returning duplicate rows from a working SQL view [SOLVED]

    Twice in the past couple of months I’ve gotten tripped up by the same data issue when using LINQ to Entities in the .NET framework. I create a simple view in my database which performs some aggregation to return a resultset containing just two columns. Querying the view returns the expected results. Performing a LINQ query on the view returns incorrect and confusing results.

    Last week I was invited by Six Apart to attend a Movable Type conference in Manhattan. If you're not familiar with the software, Movable Type is a blogging platform turned CMS which was once a major player in the US market. After a lengthy toe-to-toe battle with Wordpress, a battle won by Wordpress, Movable Type slowly faded away.
