Accessibility Grant Sparks Needed Development

Have no doubt, this is a really nice thing for the Mozilla Foundation to do. So where, I would ask, are the corporate donors for accessibility? I can't remember the last time I heard about a big donation to any project's a11y efforts--oh, wait, that was 2008.

Is Android Forking from Linux?

On Monday this week, kernel developer Greg Kroah-Hartman removed the drivers for Android from the Linux kernel's staging tree, thus insuring that--for now--Android is not headed for the mainstream Linux kernel. Which brings up this unpleasant question: did Android just become a fork from Linux?

Microsoft/Novell: Breaking Down the Coupon Numbers

Recent reports reveal that Microsoft has just about finished handing out all of those SUSE subscription coupons it got from its 2006 investment/partnership with Novell. The question becomes, just how many actual deployed boxes could this investment represent?

There is a lot of news coming out of Silicon Valley today, as Oracle and Sun host a five-hour marathon briefing on just how Oracle's approved acquisition of Sun will effect both companies' present and future customers.

Linux Foundation to World: Get a Job!

2010 will be a bumpy start to the inevitable climb in IT jobs, as the US economy struggles to reset itself after a deep recession. Today the Linux Foundation expanded its training program to get more Linux workers ready to fill those jobs.
