BP on the hunt for IT women

Aims to build female staff base

By Anh Nguyen, Computerworld UK |  Business, women in IT

BP has partnered with womenintechnology.co.uk in attempt to make its workforce more diverse.

The global energy company has now started advertising IT vacancies on the womenintechnology.co.uk website and is encouraging women to apply. The partnership is part of BP's Diversity and Inclusion programme, which involves developing the company's female employee base.

People can apply for the BP jobs via www.womenintechnology.co.uk/bp. There is currently a range of solution architect and technical project manager roles, in the UK and abroad, listed on the site.

BP has said that technology is playing a crucial part in desperate efforts to contain a huge oil spill that took place last month in the Gulf of Mexico.

The oil giant is also aiming to remove a total of $7 billion (£4.7 billion) from annual operational costs, aided by a huge overhaul of IT, processes and project management.
