July 25, 2012, 11:20 AM — The latest from Japan - DigInfo News brings us a report on a point-of-sale visual recognition system being used in a Tokyo bakery that can identify the types of baked goods that get placed on a scanner at the cash register. The system is used to help new cashiers who might not be able to tell the difference between a baguette and a donut.
I can't wait for this to show up at my local Dunkin Donuts.
