    Drivers who run red lights cause more than 600 deaths a year according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The same group recently published results finding that cities that used red light cameras saw a decrease in crashes and deaths related to red light running.

They've taken the wireless key already used to many cars and added an NFC, or near-field communication, function. NFC works over a distance of a few centimeters and is already used in contactless payment or ticketing applications.

    Letting the sort of automatic parking systems now available from Ford and Toyota take over doesn't just ensure a better parking job; according to a study from MIT, they can actually reduce stress. Of course, it's still undetermined if that stress is a good thing (because it keeps you more alert) or if the stress drop-off will still happen when such systems are standard equipment on all cars.
