NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg's push for technology innovation and employment will continue in 2013, Modis says, and with the influx of tech companies, demand for skilled IT professionals has grown. Financial services, technology and government are among the top industries hiring. "In the recession of '07-'08, mid-level employees were the people who took the greatest hit in the IT industry, with companies looking to lower-level employees to take on specific tasks," Modis says. "Now, mid-level employees are the most sought-after set of IT professionals."
