Leading universities report rising enrollment in computer-related courses

Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science caps enrollment in its Department of Computer Science at around 130 students per class, for a total enrollment of less than 550 students. Demand for these slots is rising: the school received more than 3,000 applications this year, up 14% from a year ago but not quite at the peak of 2001. Starting salaries for CMU's computer science grads remained high last year despite the downturn.
