Do you have experience working as - or with - an older programmer in a startup? By "older" I mean beyond 20-something, possibly with a family and obligations that your average fresh-out-of-school coder doesn't have to worry about.

    Posted August 22, 2013 - 5:11 pm

As I get older and start getting AARP mailings and Jitterbug phone adverts, I find I start thinking about whether age will be a significant limiting factor in a career. • Question

How do you respond to a job interviewer that asks to see your social media activity?

    Posted May 16, 2013 - 2:40 pm

Just to be clear, no one asked for a password. I have my Facebook and Google+ settings to ensure maximum privacy, so that anyone looking for me on either actually can have a hard time even finding me. The interviewer expressed concern that they weren't getting the "whole picture" because my privacy settings wouldn't let them see the "real" me.

I have moved around quite a bit over the past 10 years; I've lived in 3 different cities in 2 countries, and during this period have been self-employed as well as working for 4 different companies. The truth is, I tend to get bored of a job after about a year, and start getting antsy for something new.
