I went to an interview the other day and was asked about my Klout score. My what? I'm only slightly kidding, in that I've heard of Klout, but have no idea what my "score" is, or even what it actually indicates. Is this something that one should now expect to be asked about during job interviews?

Hello, I was in the Army for 9 years and got a degree in Computer Science Information Technology. Got out about a year ago. I want to start my IT career but not sure what route to take yet. Also, not sure what I like the most. So, I really need a mentor to help me to start my career!!!

I read about the CEO of Vizibility advocating for the inclusion of QR codes on your resume. In his view, it will show that you are a tech savvy prospect, and allow you to direct. I'm not so sure, I think it could be a bit too gimmicky. How would you react to a resume with a QR code?

I am looking to change careers. I want to have more opportunities available. I just wanted to know where to put my time, and money. There are 2ea schools I am interested in. I can only pick one skill set.

I have a relative that has a B.S. in Anthropology, but she is essentially self-taught when it comes to computers/tech/programming/IT. She has built a number of PCs and has a working knowledge of Linux programming and web design. What would be a good path for her to move into IT?

I'm currently learning Java simply because that seemed to be the language to go to if your just getting started, but I've often wondered where that will bring me, and also if i will even be doing much Java when I get (if I get) to where i want to be later. I'm interested in basically anything desktop.

How do IT folks like to be thanked for a job well done. Write a note to their boss? Any creative things that might be different?

I am an IT professional with experience in .Net1.1. After that my field changed to some non tech function for 3 yr. Then i left job for personal reasons. Now I want to start my career again. Can you suggest any technology sutable for me. I am thinking for SharePoint 2010. Will it be sutable or any other technology or course I should jump in?

There has been a high rate of IT staff turnover recently, especially among younger hires. Judging from a number of conversations that I've had, this is not just an issue at my company, and is widely the case. What reasonable steps can be taken to improve retention of younger employees?

I read an article in Slate that talked about a free project from Codecademy called "Code Year". It is basically a year long program to teach the basics of programming to people without tech backgrounds. It requires a commitment to at least one lesson per week, with each lesson requiring about 5 hours.

I've got a couple of tough reviews to give in January. What are some tips on delivering the negative part of the review, but also keeping things postive in order to start fresh for the new year? I'd like to get perspective from folks who have been on both sides of the table. Thanks!
