  • China and the US have been poking at each other for a while now over a variety of issues. The US has accused China of having government sponsored hackers that attack US government and commercial sites daily, and are responsible for theft of both commercial and military secrets.

  • My house is all pretty much all Android and Windows devices, but my girlfriend has an iPhone and iPad. I have Google Cloud Print set up so it is easy for me to print from any device anytime I am home. Is there a way for her to use Cloud Print with her iOS devices as well?

  • How does the number of cores impact CPU performance? I understand the basic premise that more is better, but how does adding cores actually work versus simply having a CPU with a faster clock speed? Is it a more efficient design choice for improving performance from the user perspective?

  • iTunes is not supported on Chromebooks. Clearly Google would much prefer you to use their cloud music service, Play, when using one. I am not an Apple expert - I use Windows, Ubuntu or Chrome 99% of the time - but the only work around I know is to move your iTunes collection to Play.

  • One of the responses Russia has threatened in retaliation for sanctions imposed by the US over the annexation of Crimea is that they will shut down Russian GPS stations to disrupt navigation. How would this have any impact on a space based system of satellites, which is what I understand GPS to be?

  • The vast majority of software designed for 32-bit Windows will run fine on 64-bit Windows. Some older Windows software came with a 16-bit installer and there you could have some issues, but you are pretty unlikely to run into that. If you do run into an issue running 32-bit software, you could virtualize 32-bit Windows.

  • I would put the ability to import password lists from other password managers near the top of the list, so if you change managers you do not have to manually enter in all of the information again. I would also look for multi-factor authentication as well - you REALLY want a password manager to stay secure.

  • All of the recent security issues in the news makes me curious - How much are my personal details and information worth in real dollars? Is there an actual "going price" on personal information in the “black hat” marketplace?

  • Just to add to what Adam already said, there was an article on PCworld last year where the author checked to see what he could see by snooping over public WiFi. Short answer: A LOT! It might be worth a read if you have time.

  • If your daughter tried to log-on too many times with the wrong password, your Apple ID was disabled to protect your account. You will need to reset your password, then it should work again.   https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/

  • Basically, all of your iPhone images are available for use in iMovie through the media browser. Just click the photo button to utilize them.

  • I use Google Drive for a number of things, although most often I make use of the word processor. It’s free, it works reasonably well (although I do still prefer Word), and all of my documents are saved to the cloud. However, I’m not always sitting at my desk, and I am often out of the office and away from WiFi.

  • Sorry, but iOS 7 will not work for an iPhone 3GS. 6.1.6 is the latest version of iOS that is compatible with the 3GS.

  • You can see the most recent login activity if you scroll down to the bottom right of your gmail page and click “Details” under account activity, but that will only show you the most recent events.

  • In my bank statement this month, there was an insert about depositing checks to my account using either an Android phone or iPhone. It looks pretty much all you do is take a photograph of the check, confirm that the amount is correct, and Bob’s your uncle. I’m a little skittish about this though; is it really secure?

  • If you use XP mode to run old software on Windows 7 machines, will the end of XP support by Microsoft cause any issues?

  • I’m doing some work for a small SaaS company, and the owner is trying to get a better handle on the actual business side of his company. What are the key metrics that a SaaS provider should look at to gauge the health of his business?
