Mergers in the security business

Despite the shaky economy, there are still some companies out there with money to burn. The pace of acquisition is likely to slow down, but they are still trickling on, most recently, with McAfee's "a href="http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-10047380-83.html" target="new">deal to acquire Secure Computing for $465 million.

The deal will give McAfee an incredible range of security offerings, presumably good news for their resellers and partners, since the deal will significantly expand McAfee's portfolio. The deal will also help McAfee in targeting larger enterprise customers, given Secure's channel success in the enterprise.

McAfee's partners are apparently eager for some changes to the channel program in general, and the company's new VP of North American channels indicated that a "rebalancing" is in the offing.
