Acer and the Channel

By Dan Blacharski  1 comment

This will be a fun one to watch. CRN editor Robert DeMarzo drew a line in the sand in his blog last week, effectively daring Acer CEO Gianfranco Lanci to respond. Is Acer clueless about the American channel community? Yes, and this is a bad time economically for any big computer company to be ignoring the US market.

According to the entry, Lanci snubbed CRN on his recent trip to the US--and it's not the first time. The publication had sent a reporter to Italy last year with no luck in cornering Lanci. So what's going on with Acer? The company's facing some big competition from Dell of course--but if Acer wants to keep even a sliver of the US marketplace, they need to pay more attention to their partners--and the media as well.
