Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.

Who's Mike ?
At the bottom of the article it mentions Mike, I searched the page but there appears to be no mention of who Mike is.From the flow of the article, from first person describing the creation of ping, to first person talking about "visiting Mike the evening he created ping" I'm assuming Mike write ping, and Emmanuel Conde or Terry Slattery wrote the article.
It's all very confusing, or maybe I've not had enough coffee.
