Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.

Restore won't work
Set it and forget it would be great if this thing wasn't such a drain on resources and if you never had to restore. It's image backup. Leaving it plugged in all the time will definitely cause viruses and other corruptions to be copied over. That's assuming you never have to restore it to a different computer. Hardware changes will make a restore impossible.
