November 05, 2012, 11:36 AM — Everyone loves free, especially when it comes to knowledge and information. If you'd like to brush up on your Microsoft software skills or learn some new ones, download any of these free e-books that interest you.
Windows 8 for Dummies (PDF direct link): Offered by Dell in partnership with Microsoft, this 138-page PDF walks you through everything from what's new in Windows 8 to how to fix the ten worst things about Windows 8.
TechNet E-Book Gallery for Microsoft Technologies (Epub, Mobile, PDF links): This TechNet wiki offers reference books, guides, and step-by-step instructions on such topics as "Security and Privacy for Microsoft Office 2010 Users," "Explore SharePoint 2013," "SQL Server Tutorials," "Developing Modern Mobile Web Apps," and "Own Your Future: Update Your Skills with Resources and Career Ideas from Microsoft." This wiki is also updated almost daily with new books, so be sure to bookmark it or follow the site on Twitter to get new e-book notifications.
Two Other Giant Collections of Free Microsoft E-books (mostly PDF: collection one and collection two): Eric Ligman has collected on MSDN over 80 free Microsoft e-books. Most of them are already on the TechNet gallery mentioned above, but there are also a few others not included in that collection, such as "Planning Guide for Microsoft Office 2010-For IT Professionals" and a digital book for teens.
Lots of reading material, again for free! Share these with others you think might benefit from these resources.
