July 21, 2014, 3:33 PM — Windows comes with a bunch of features you might not actually need, but it's easy to turn them off.
7 Tutorials has the, well, tutorials for getting to the Windows Features screen in both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. Basically, you need to go to the "Programs and Features" area in the Control Panel and then click the "Turn Windows features on or off" to see a list like the one below. Uncheck the ones you want to remove or disable.
Even more helpfully, 7 Tutorials also has a guide describing each of these features, with recommendations for what you should keep (e.g., .NET Framework) and which ones most casual Windows users can remove (e.g., Hyper-V). Good to know!
