The easiest way to create a GIF from a YouTube video

Turn any YouTube video into an animated GIF by adding "gif" to the URL

By

If a picture is worth a thousand words, an animated GIF must be worth at least ten thousand. This URL hack turns any YouTube video into a GIF for quick sharing.

All you have to do is add "gif" to the YouTube URL, between the "www" and the "youtube.com" part of the address. So, for example, in the address bar turn:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GncYQHBJIw

into:

https://www.gifyoutube.com/watch?v=1GncYQHBJIw

Then you'll get this simple editing screen, where you can select the animation duration (up to 10 seconds) and the start point. From this:

YouTube to Gif

To this:

Dancing Groot

Although you won't be able to control each frame of the GIF, the tool from Glyphic sure can come in handy when you need to communicate in the language of the web or lighten up a message. It's really easy to remember to use as well.
