August 26, 2014, 11:44 AM — LastPass is one of the most often recommended tools for making passwords less torturous to deal with. The password manager's Premium service is now free for a year, at least for new subscribers.
If you're not already using a password manager--and you really should--, this is as good a time as any to start. LastPass protects all your passwords for sites with a strong master password and automatically logs you into sites. It can also generate a strong password for you when you sign up for a new site.
The Premium version adds more security options and supports all mobile devices--iOS, Android, Windows Phone, and BlackBerry. If you've ever tried to log into a site from your phone, you know how tedious that can be.
The free offer, available at AppSumo, only saves you $12 for the first year. But it's a no-strings-attached deal that just might encourage better password habits (particularly, not having to use memorable short passwords or reusing passwords on multiple sites).
Unfortunately, LastPass is getting some flak for changing the offer to only new LastPass customers after overwhelming demand. It's still a good deal though.
