    gmail login older history

    Posted March 25, 2014 - 2:25 am

I am suspecting that someone used my gmail account. It is very important to find proof of that. I need to see who (what IP address) used my account from 02-09-2013 till 30-09-2013 and I can not find such information in unfamiliar activity reports: it seems it is to old to find it here. How and where do I find older information? Thnx!

Can my laptop be monitored by a friend?

    Posted February 12, 2014 - 3:08 pm

My laptop does strange things at times, and I think someone is getting on it remotely. For instance, I tried to close my “Configfree” internet monitor and it was being used by someone, and it wouldn't allow me to access, and I am the administrator.

  • Question

Why has the retention period for backed up data been decreasing?

    Posted May 7, 2012 - 4:17 pm

I was discussing something with a sysadmin last week, and he made a comment that backed up data is often only retained for a few days now. It wasn't long ago that the standard I was familiar with was a 30 day retention of data. I didn't get around to asking why the retention period had decreased so much before we parted ways. Was he right?
  • Question

What do you do when MS Exchange servers go down and your backup is corrupted?

    Posted January 16, 2012 - 1:32 pm

A power transformer blew a block away from our office and the spike cooked our UPS, taking down the MS Exchange server. Unfortunately, it was at the end of the day yesterday, and the back-up was almost a day old at the time, so the emails from the entire day were not yet backed up.
  • Question

What type of data backup plan does your business use?

    Posted November 4, 2011 - 2:03 pm

As a smaller company, we don't have a lot of predetermined procedures that set out rules and schedules for everyone to follow, and currently data is only backed up each Friday at the end of the day. I think this is inadequate, and was curious what kind of schedule others were following to ensure their data is preserved.
