Is it worth learning CSS in addition to HTML for website design?

If you already are reasonably competent designing website using HTML, would it still make sense to learn CSS too? Are there many things that you can do with CSS that you can’t using HTML?

Is there a good source that lists whether various HTML5 functions are compatible with different browsers? For example, drag and drop will work with Safari 6.0 but is not compatible with iOS Safari 6.0. Thanks.

Website design is not something that I am great at, but I see some sites that clearly have been put together by more accomplished people than me with what I consider terrible design decisions. Example, I was just reading the LA Times, and clicked the tab to the tech section. Having a second, I thought I’d check my email in another browser tab.

What are the most significant advantages of HTML5 over HTML4?

I suppose the main advantage that comes to mind about HTML5 is that it allows for video to be embedded in browsers, which frees users from Adobe Flash Player and related security issues. What else does HTML5 bring to the table that is new/better?

I was thinking of teaching myself how to build mobile apps. I was going to try iOS at first, but I don't want to have to learn Objective-C from scratch just to get started. Since Android apps use Java, which I am at least familiar with (although far from accomplished) I though that would be much easier out of the gates.

Basically, if you develop an unique app for BB10, and there are at least 100 unique downloads, RIM says they will pay you "the difference between your earnings and $10,000" for your trouble. What do you think, is that enough of an incentive to give it a go?

In the first portion of the Google/Oracle trial, Oracle is arguing that Google used APIs that are copyrighted by Oracle (or were copyrighted by Sun). I've always thought that as long as you didn't straight up copy the software, you could reproduce an API's interface. In fact, you kinda have to.
