Digital TV Switch Coming Tuesday For Many, Despite Delay

Hundreds of broadcast stations will switch to digital on the original Feb. 17 deadline. That means millions of Americans with analog TVs may see only snow on their favorite channels come Tuesday. Nearly 500 stations say they intend to switch to digital broadcasts that day, despite a recent Congressional vote to delay the transition until June 12.

The U.S. House of Representatives' vote Wednesday to delay a national transition from analog to digital television until June may cause a shortage in digital converter boxes and will delay some new wireless services aimed at consumers, some critics said.

Chairman: FCC has no coherent plan for DTV

The U.S. will have significant problems switching from analog to digital TV if the transition goes forward as scheduled on Feb. 17, the recently appointed acting chairman of the FCC said Friday.

Either way you look at it Microsoft Data Center management did not follow standards or best practices in this failure. In which case it makes me wonder more about the outsourcing of corporate data much less personal data.
