Emulex announced its latest Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) with four 8Gbit/sec. ports on a single board, doubling the capacity for its LightPulse HBAs.
Network components manufacturer Emulex Corp. today said its board of directors will review a new takeover bid by Broadcom Corp., which raised its offer from $9.25 per share to $11. That would make the deal worth about $925 million.
Broadcom wants Emulex shareholders to voice their views on Broadcom's US$764 million unsolicited offer to buy Emulex after failing repeatedly to negotiate a deal between the two companies' boards.
Emulex has taken its efforts to avoid a hostile takeover by Broadcom to court, suing the company for unfair business practices and citing the drug-trafficking and securities-fraud indictment of Broadcom's former top executive as proof to its shareholders that Broadcom officials can't be trusted.
