I know most Americans have enough of their own concerns without spending a lot of time watching the Beeb, but I wonder if there is awareness of an EU treaty that SOPA supporters would love. 22 nations have signed on so far to the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA).

There was an article in Ars Technica today that laid out some of the practices of police departments across the country vis a vis mobile phones. The ACLU used open records laws to find out how police were conducting surveillance on cell phone users, and to put it mildly, I am not happy.

As indicated by my earlier question on this topic, I have deep concerns about the potential effects of SOPA. President Obama came out against SOPA in its current form over the weekend, in particular expressing opposition to DNS blocking provisions of the proposed bill.

I don't use Go Daddy, but a friend of mine has about a dozen domains that he plans to transfer away from Go Daddy by the end of the month due to their support of SOPA. Since the issue of SOPA support came to light, and people freaked out on Go Daddy, they reversed themselves and are now opposed to SOPA.
