March 18, 2009, 10:14 AM — New Jersey Nets forward Sean Williams was arrested Monday after allegedly throwing a computer monitor in a cell phone store outside of Denver, according to the Newark Star-Ledger.
The report says that Williams, who was kicked out of Boston College in 2007 for a rules violation, was charged with felony criminal mischief and disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, following an altercation with an AT&T Mobility store clerk at the Park Meadows Mall.
The Star-Ledger story says that the monitor and other equipment broke, resulting in between US$1,200 and $1,300 in damages. Apparently the computer wasn't a ruggedized model.
Williams looks like a lock to be included in our March tech crime blotter (see February's here)
Of course Williams wouldn't be the first high profile thrower of electronics equipment. Actor Russell Crowe made headlines in 2005 after whipping a desk phone at a New York hotel clerk.
