Steve Jobs says Google's 'don't be evil' mantra is 'bull****'

After the iPad announcement, Apple CEO Steve Jobs held forth at an internal Apple employee town hall, where he answered questions, including questions about Google. According to reports, Jobs implied that Google is asking for trouble. After pointing out that Apple was thoughtful enough to not go into the search business, which is Google's territory, Google "entered the phone business. Make no mistake they want to kill the iPhone. We won’t let them."

And then, he used his "one more thing" routine with employees to dismiss Google's core operating principle. According to reports, Jobs said "I want to go back to that other question first and say one more thing. This don't be evil mantra: It's bull****." That reportedly got a big round of applause.

Jobs' throw-away comment about Google's mantra is designed, no doubt, to erase any residual affection Apple geeks might have for the company, and let everyone know that Google is an official enemy of the Apple state.

Neither of the devices are "bullshit," ladies and/or gentlemen. This comment section is intended for thoughtful discussion about the article, not for a fruitless flame war about which phone is better. This is simply a business war; at present, neither company has berated the quality of the other's product, so it'd be wise to save your cleverly- and carefully-worded arguments for when that does happen (as it almost inevitably will).
