Google adds search to Gmail's 'Compose Mail' view?

By Mike Elgan  5 comments

Go2web20 co-founder Orli Yakuel discovered that Google added a search window in the Gmail "Compose Mail" view. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up for me. Do you have it? (Please post in comments.)

Gradual rollouts and limited tests are nothing new for Google, so I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of users don't have the search window.

The feature has been in Labs for about 10 months. If Yakuel is correct, they may be phasing it into everybody's Gmail.

Let us know if you have it!

You need to activate it from Gmail Labs: Go to http://mail.google.com/mail/?labs=0and enable the "Google Search" tool.

Click on "To:", you'll get a drop-down window that includes a "Choose from contacts" box that allows you to "Search my contacts" within the box. You'll also be presented a "Most contacted" list.
