  • Fusion Garage drops price, pushes release date of Grid10 tablet

    The new Grid10 tablet from Fusion Garage will hit the streets with a retail price of $299/$399 rather than $499/$599 (WiFi/3G), thanks no doubt to the HP TouchPad fire sale. Evidently, it will take two weeks to redo the price tags, since the September 15 ship date has been pushed back to October 1. The operating system is a customized version of Android.

But how're Fusion Garage and Spring Design doing in their quest to launch alternative devices? They're still experiencing ups and downs. And wait! Apple isn't entirely on track, after all...

    If anyone pre-ordered Fusion Garage's JooJoo tablet (formerly known as the CrunchPad), be warned that the device's ship date has been delayed until March 25, due to a "manufacturing error."

    Here we are at the end of February and both the Spring Design Alex and the Fusion Garage JooJoo were supposed to be in users' hands. So where are they?

    Fusion Garage is promising that its $500 Joojoo internet tablet will be shipping by the end of February. Comparisons to the $500 iPad are irresistible even though the two products don't line up exactly. Which would you pick?

    Michael Arrington's ex-partners at Fusion Garage are showing off the product formerly known as CrunchPad this week. The new name? JooJoo. The new price? Much too high. The reaction from Arrington? Silence, so far.
