  • Are you ready for a morning eye-roll? So TechCrunch Disrupt is going on this week. I don't know exactly what TechCrunch Disrupt's elevator pitch is, but I think it's safe to say it's a conference designed around new technology that is potentially disruptive, eh?

  • I don't often cover Apple rumors these days; there are just so many of them, most of which turn out to be completely wrong. But this week we seem to be seeing some kind of consensus on at least one aspect of the next iPhone: a bigger screen.

  • Must have been a tough day for Microsoft's Kinect department yesterday.

  • It's hard to believe that E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, is just two weeks away. Technically the show starts on June 5th, 2012 but June 4th is the day that Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts are all holding their press conferences.

  • Here's some good news for Sony PS3 owners who enjoy putting those generous hard drives to use by buying their games digitally. Starting with next week's Playstation Move-enabled magic-slinging release Sorcery, gamers will be able to pre-load digital titles ahead of time.

  • Yesterday saw a lot of column inches devoted to NUads, a new advertising technology coming to us from Microsoft this spring. The basic gist of the system is that, by using Microsoft Kinect, advertisers can let viewers interact with TV ads.

  • The cloud-based gaming scene (what I used to awkwardly refer to as streaming-gaming) got a little more interesting yesterday when Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang demonstrated a new 'virtual GPU' at (where else?) the GPU Technology Conference in San Jose, CA.

  • A few months back, music streaming service Rdio launched a new interface for it's subscribers. As of yesterday evening free users will also have access to the new Rdio.

  • The latest Xbox scuttlebutt coming out of the rumor grindhouse known as The Verge is that the Xbox 360 is getting a version of IE 9 that is (of course) Kinect enabled.

  • Almost since the first person shooter debuted, critics have warned it would make players more violent. Game developers have warned for just as long that rampant piracy was costing them billions and would drive them out of business. There is little evidence of any truth to either charge, or was until now.

  • Rockstar Games has released the first trailer for its Grand Theft Auto V video game, showing some of the scenes from the Los Angeles-based video game where you get to commit crimes, run away from cops and do other assorted bad things. Count me in, of course.

  • With all of the controversy surrounding the Blu-Ray DVD release of the Star Wars saga, it was inevitable that the YouTube community would start creating more and more versions beyond just dubbing a Darth Vader "Nooooooooo!" into different scenes.

  • It'll be interesting to see how GoDaddy chief executive Bob Parsons handles the continued fallout from his recent "vacation" in Zimbabwe. Parsons is taking the kind of heat that in early February forced fashion icon Kenneth Cole to apologize after he lamely tried to use political violence in Egypt to hype his company's "spring collection."

  • So now it's official: the WiFi-only Motorola Xoom is launching on March 27th at seven different retailers. The price will be $599, and that price seems to be causing much rejoicing. In fact I was happy to hear it myself. And then I became very sad that the tablet manufacturers have me thinking of $600 as a great price for a tablet.

  • Today Amazon launched its "Prime Instant Video" service. This is an additional feature added to Amazon's existing $79/year Prime service that offers free two-day shipping on many products.

  • I was as anxious as anyone to download Rupert Murdoch's new media baby, The Daily, when it launched yesterday. What was the 'future of newspapers' on Apple's iPad going to look like? I booted the app wanting to hate it just because of the level of hubris displayed by those hyping the product ahead of launch.

  • In a future patch (firmware version 3.6), Sony is going to enable Playstation 3 game saves to be stored in the cloud. This information came to us via Kotaku last Friday.

  • The other day I downloaded a very nifty app for my Motorola Droid: Arcade by Kongregate. The app promised to offer 300 Flash games on my phone. To be clear, these were all games from Kongregate.com, a Flash-game portal of some renown.

  • iOS game developers are starting to move to Android, but the platform isn't nearly as homogeneous as iOS is, and Google recently cut the refund window from 24 hours to 15 minutes. That means some gamers are finding themselves with broken apps and no means to get their money back.

  • Last winter Android fans were all in a tizzy over the deluge of seemingly high quality Android tablets headed to market. Here we are in the midst of Holiday 2010 and...still there are (almost) no decent Android tablets! Are there any good choices? Will there be?

  • Random House thinks people who receive an e-reader for Christmas will be unable to find e-books to read on it without their help. I think Random House just sees a great marketing opportunity cloaked in a free e-book.

  • The idea of having a Chrome Web Store stocked with apps was kind of appealing; after all I can waste plenty of time poking through the iTunes App Store or Android Market. But the reality, at least for now, didn't live up to the hype.

  • Hulu keeps improving the reach and value of its Hulu Plus service. This time it's a price drop, free trial offers and another streaming device supported. Of course there's still the issue of those pesky ads.
