March 26, 2009, 9:49 AM — Accolade Systems sued Micron Technology and its subsidiary Aptina Imaging for infringing on one of its patents, according to documents filed with the courts on Tuesday. While Apple isn't named in the suit, components in the iPhone are part of the lawsuit.
Filed in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Texas Marshall Division, the lawsuit centers on the so-called "298 patent." The patent describes a "method and apparatus for detecting camera sensor intensity saturation."
The lawsuit charges that the image sensors made by the companies violate the patent held by Accolade.
Accolade said that these sensors are being used in various consumer products and cell phones, including Apple's iPhone.
Accolade is asking for a jury trial.
