Multi-tasking the project plan

I had one of those weird moments recently where I made an analogy between two things that I have never before analogized. Namely, multi-tasking operating systems and project planning. I will get back to that in a moment but first, I have a possible reason why weird analogies are popping in my head that I would like to spend a minute on.

The Facebook Productivity Sink Hole

Eavesdropping (physically, not electronically) is wonderful. You can learn amazing things. One of my friends kept his ears open during a business networking meeting, and overheard two young women talking. They were in their mid-twenties and both worked for non-profit agencies in Indianapolis.

Why You Need a Chief Green Officer

The latest C-level officer that organizations are benefiting from is the CGO – Chief Green Officer. Sure, this can be seen as "greenwashing", but when implemented thoughtfully and without trying to pull one over on the public, this is a very important person.

Management Style: Minimize your Seagull Tendancies

We've all been there … Sitting in the shadow of a manager who, instead of taking the time to get the facts straight and working with the team to solve a problem, swoops in, and squawks up a storm. These types of managers are called 'seagull managers'.

Where Google Chrome security fails: the password
I heard mention that the Chrome OS will have some sort of encryption available a la bitlocker. If it's possible to encrypt personal data using another password or key, then it may have potential for very secure data.... And Ubuntu has an 'encrypt home directory' option, perhaps google should follow suit.

On a typical day, weather.com, the Web site for The Weather Channel in Atlanta, serves up between 15 million and 20 million page views. But in September 2004, when back-to-back hurricanes ransacked Florida, the peak traffic on one day more than tripled: over 70 million page views by more than 7 million unique visitors.
