As popular as it is to pick on AT&T, it easy is to forget the company occasionally does something right. The addition of MMS is an example.

Nearly three days after activating its multimedia messaging service (MMS) to iPhone 3G and 3GS, AT&T Inc. said today it was "pleased with the rollout" despite continuing user complaints on its own Facebook page.

AT&T activated Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) on iPhone 3G and 3GS phones starting mid-day Friday nationwide, with some early users reporting transmission problems on AT&T's Facebook page.

At last, the moment iPhone owners have been waiting for: MMS is coming to the iPhone 3G and 3GS tomorrow. Huzzah! But can AT&T handle this update, or will Friday be one of those nightmares that wakes you in a shaking panic?

Although both MMS support and tethering are possible on the upcoming iPhone 3G S, AT&T doesn't yet offer tethering and won't deliver on multimedia messaging until later this summer. Which raises this question: What's taking AT&T so long?
